Patterns w/available Kits

When you buy a Critters created fabric kit, you get an assortment of colors and textures as similar to the original fabrics as we can find. We give you a list of what is in the kit. You will separate the fabrics for the borders and binding from the group. You decide how to combine the critters and the backgrounds they go on. That way everybody's quilts comes out differently.

There are six crustaceans in this pattern:  a shrimp, a rock lobster, and Maine lobster, a horseshoe crab, a crab, and a hermit crab.  The backgrounds are crazy quilt style which is explained in the pattern.  I hand embroidered the crazy quilt stitches with pearl cotton and embellished with beads all the corals and some of the crustaceans.

There are two Dragonflies drawings with 5 wildflowers to bead or embroider: Dandelion (yellow and puff ball), Queen Anne's Lace, Thistle, and Wild Rose.  The quilt in the photograph measures 22 1/2" square.

This  pattern is for raw edge applique and beginning bead and embroidery embellishment.  Included in the pattern are full sized drawings of a lizard (he is about 7" long x 6" wide), three butterflies (one for a beginner beader), a wren, a dragonfly, and a snail for raw edge machine appliqué and hand beading in the pattern. Not all designs in the pattern were used on this quilt. I just wanted you to have enough to play with to make your quilt unique.

There are nine Seahorses and a Sea Dragon with coral and seaweed. The technique for appliqué is raw edge stitching (straight stitching using a darning foot) and the embellishment, if you care to add it, is hand embroidery using feather stitch and chain stitch for the seaweeds, and two methods of hand beading. The instructions include directions for machine quilting and putting on the sleeve and binding, and signing your name in free hand stitching.

We used glass multi-faceted antique buttons (that we found at a flea market) to represent crystals that two of the dragons, the griffin, and Merlin hold. There are many 3-D details in this quilt.
