This blue and gold macaw is made from many layers of cotton fabrics. Each layer is fused to the layer before and then the whole applique is fused to the background. The stitching is raw edge (straight stitching using a darning foot to draw the details and hold all the edges down). The feet are stitched with satin stitching. The quilting is doodling in straight stitching with the darning foot drawing branches and leaves in variegated rayon thread.
