Class: Machine Applique Class at Quilting, Stitches & Crafts Expo, Sharonville OH, September 9, 2010, 1 pm to 4 pm.
This class is based on the techniques I used to make most of my patterns. Sewing machine with an open toed foot, and a darning foot, is being sponsored by Kramer’s Sew & Vac.
View the videos on our website if you are clueless about how to prepare the blocks with the appliques fused on.
Bring to class:
A Critter Pattern Works pattern of your choice, basic sewing supplies, scissors, marking pencil or chalk, fusible like Steam-A-Seam lite (we have it on our website and at the booth), tear away stabilizer (enough to go under your appliqués), threads (rayon preferable) at least 5 shades darker or lighter than your appliques, fabrics for two blocks with animals cut out, marked with the detail lines, and fused to the backgrounds. The backgrounds need to be 2" larger on all side, than the appliques.
When you are choosing fabrics, pick ones that read more as a texture rather than specific images like hearts or frogs. If we have enough time, we could also explore machine quilting, and signing you name free hand on the sewing machine. Bring a couple of scraps of fabric and batting to work on this, too.
PLEASE don't wait till the last minute to order. A PDF pattern is a good choice if you are inder the wire. You won't have to wait for the mailman. I would rather ship your order than spend class time to pass out orders. |
